COVID-19

COVID19 Q&A and Open 2020 Dates

YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY + THE PANDEMIC

Holy moly — in the span of a week, the public went from “everything is fiiiiiine, it’s just the flu” to worldwide panic, economic shut downs, a flurry of quarantine TikToks, and a whole lot of reality checks. Boy did that take a u-turn, did it not?

I know this is supremely disappointing and a whole lot of chaos that you can’t control. I understand you’ve been planning this day for quite some time, booked honeymoons, and counted on friends and family traveling to be there celebrating with you — this is truly waaay too much to take in for everyone. Things are super crazy right now and no one knows how this will unfold, when it will all end, and how long it will take for us to feel normal again. Please know you’re not alone trying to juggle it all. At the end of the day, no matter what happens, who is there, or where you are, the day after you get married (either your original date or a later one, maybe even split into two events) you will be married and starting a new future together, and honestly, that’s the thing that matters most.

Thoughts, worries, concerns, great COVID-19 jokes for comic relief? I’m here for all of it.

I’m just a text, call, or Zoom meeting away. (605)838-7873

Below you’ll find some commonly asked questions and concerns relating to the COVID-19 crazy we find ourselves in as well as available dates for you to make some changes as this thing progresses if need be.

I appreciate you, feel what you’re going through, and am here to help in any way I can. This too shall pass, we’ll get through it all together.

Kate

If you’re considering postponing, be sure to keep me in the loop and let me know when things are changing — even if you’re not sure. I can even help you round up vendors and communicate all our open dates to see if one fits for all of us, so there is less for you to do. Keep in mind, the sooner you postpone and reschedule, the more open availability your vendors will have.

To my couples with weddings April – July 2020 that need to reschedule: there are no extra charges and no rescheduling fees for any date in 2020 or 2021. I understand this is a super scary time and I am not going to charge you if you decide to postpone whether forced by law, venue closures, or proactively.

To my couples with weddings September 2020 or later: I know many of you are dealing with income or even job loss due to COVID-19 (or even loved ones losing income or jobs and are worried about guests being able to travel or get time off later this year) and are thinking of rescheduling out of precaution for your loved ones. Either way, I’m here to support you 100% if you feel more comfortable pushing your wedding date. If you decide to reschedule to a date before April 2021, there will be no extra charges or rescheduling fees. If you push your date to May 2021 or later, I will waive the traditional fees (rescheduling fee + new retainer fee), but will instead be doing a small flat rate fee of $500 to help my business offset the revenue lost of reserving another prime weekend date.

I know this is a super touchy situation to navigate and there are a million and one variables for so many of you. Please know I am here for you as you make these difficult choices and I will do everything I can to serve you.

NOTE: if there are further forced legal mandates regarding large group gatherings over your wedding date, there will be no flat rate fee of $500.

CONSIDERING POSTPONING YOUR WEDDING?

Contracts, payment amounts, and all that jazz will all stay the same — however some dates and information may need to be updated as things change. I will not ever come after you for a higher collection price for a postponement.

WHAT ABOUT CONTRACTS AND CURRENT BALANCES?

Should you decide to reschedule your date and I’m not available on that specific date, you have two options:

  1. I hire an associate to cover the photography of your wedding date. Rest assured that anyone I hire in place of myself has a similar set of gear, shooting technique, and will be so thoroughly prepared for your day so it goes off without a hitch. The best news? you don’t have to search for another vendor that is available and I still do all the editing of your images. This way, your images will have the same quality, look, and vibe as what you hired me for.

  2. You may decide cancelling the contract is best for you, however, you forfeit your retainer. (See question below)

WHAT IF I POSTPONE MY WEDDING AND YOU’RE NOT AVAILABLE?

Should you decide to cancel altogether rather than to postpone to another date (or if you do reschedule and you do not want to hire an associate) per our signed contract, 30% of your total is a non-refundable retainer and will be forfeited in the case of a cancellation from you.

I know losing your retainer can be frustrating and I truly hope you can see how hard I am working to give you options and being as flexible as I possibly can by offering associates, waived change fees, and allowing rescheduling all the way through 2021. I promise, I’m not sticking to this because I’m a greedy a-hole.. I’m simply firm on this policy in order to keep my business in business. I appreciate any and all understanding and grace that my business is my entire livelihood.

WHAT IF I CANCEL?
