Chicago, IL is and always has been one of my favorite cities. I love the lake, I love the city, I love the people.. and in May I went to Chicago to photograph one of my dear friends and her husband as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their first child! They live in an amazing high rise in downtown Chicago and they showed us around to some of the spots that are special to them! It was so fun to shoot both in the city and around the parks they go to daily.
Milton Lee Olive Park is very special to David and Julia! They walk their Chihuahua, Coco, to this park every day and Julia, a landscape photographer, has taken some of her most amazing images from this very spot.
On our walk around downtown, we walked through Jane Addams Memorial Park. It had the most amazing structures! Julia looked like a goddess and we only got in the way of a few bikers and pedestrians along the way.
When in downtown Chicago, it is a must to stop to see the luxury boats out on the water. When you’re there for any weekend in the summer, you’ll see several yachts together throwing massive parties. Maybe I’ll get an invite someday..
Spring in the city is GORGEOUS. The flowers were still in bloom during my trip and the gardens at Maggie Daley Park were no exception. Julia was absolutely glowing!
Not only did I get to photograph my friend during this amazing time in her life, but I got to spend my 30th birthday in one of my favorite cities! (Yes, I know I look young, but I really am 30!) It was a phenomenal trip and just wait until you see the images I got when Julia and David welcomed Miss Lillian Colleen into the world just a couple short weeks later..
